Meet Daniel Huckabay, Your Experienced and
Caring Massage
Therapist
I
chose Muscular Therapy as a calling in life because before I was aware
of it, I was in PAIN! I had always been a "work with my hands" kind
of guy, air plane and helicopter mechanic in the U.S.Navy then on to
automotive and industrial equipment...until I had three discs go sideways
in my lower back working on a street sweeper for the City of Fremont.
Being so well-educated and experienced in the automotive industry,
I ended up with a low-paying high-stressed desk job. During this time
my wife of 30 years and I took a Massage for Relaxation class with
Donna Lawyer at Fremont Adult School. I was pain-free for three glorious
days.
After 11 months of misery I quit my "day job" and
went to National Holistic Institute to learn the art and science
of massage. People told me I had a gift and that my talent would make
a lot of people happy. I gave up the mental baggage and attempted
to fill myself with the knowledge BODYWORK in all its forms. I passed
the National Certification for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork soon
after graduation and felt like a professional Muscular Therapist
who knows enough about the muscles and systems of the body to help
people enhance their heath, increase their endurance and recover from
too much fun.
I worked with American Massage Therapy Association
California Chapter Sports Massage Team and as Team Coordinator we worked
at various rodeos, NASCAR and Truck events, Marathons, Triathlons and
Relay For Life events.
I develop new skills every year by attending workshops and conventions
that offer continuing education.
I am involved with my association
as Northern Representative of the American Massage Therapy Association
California Chapter. I volenteered because I wanted to see a change
in the way Massage Therapy is regulated. The way it is now, every
city, county and township in California has a different way of
regulating the Massage Therapy industry. AMTA-CA is the only
organization of Massage Therapists willing to step forward and try
to change this. By requiring members to meet the high standards we
are raising the entire profession to a higher standard.
The Importance of AMTA Membership
The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA),
founded in 1943, is the largest and oldest national organization
representing the massage therapy profession. Membership in the AMTA
is limited to only those massage therapists who have demonstrated
a level of skill and expertise through testing and/or education.
All AMTA therapists must agree to abide by the AMTA Code of Ethics.
Ask your AMTA therapist for more information about on-site chair
massage.
